Yega Muthu was educated and trained as a lawyer in England. He studied law in Manchester and Staffordshire and trained as a Barrister in London. He spent a year in Malaysia training as a legal advocate.
Yega is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW since 2006, was the lawyer member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal from 2007-2012 and has vast experience in dealing with mental health issues. He also obtained a PhD degree in law focusing on psychiatry from Macquarie University in 2004.
He enjoys litigation and teaches Mental Health Law to undergraduate students at the School of Law, Western Sydney University.He is widely published in a variety of fields including Mental Health Law and Torts and has appeared in the media.
As a result of working in academia and practice in the areas of health, human rights, succession, personal injury and criminal law, Yega decided to establish YM Lawyers. The firm aims to give personal and reliable service to clients built on exceptional experience, insight, and excellence.
Yega is also an approved member of the mental health advocacy and general criminal law panel of Legal Aid NSW.
